Professor Xiuhua Chen is mainly engaged in new energy and environment materials, new type of solar cell materials, semiconductors, very large scale integrated circuit wiring material around the solar photovoltaic industry silicon base material and devices, nano porous silicon preparation and applications of heavy metals in environmental governance, information industry, silicon vlsi circuit wiring and interconnection film material to carry out the related research work.

The research work of this research team has been funded and supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Fund for Returned Scholars of the Ministry of Education, the Major Science and Technology Special Project of Yunnan Science and Technology Department, the Key Project of Yunnan Science and Technology Department, and the Open Fund of the State Key Laboratory of Clean Utilization of Complex Non-Ferrous Metal Resources jointly built by Yunnan Province and The Ministry of Education.

Areas of Concern

1. Solar silicon base materials and devices for photovoltaic industry

Nano-metal assisted etching is used to carry out research on new silicon-based solar cell materials and devices. Silicon wafers with different structures are prepared by effective regulation to achieve efficient reflection reduction effect on the surface of solar silicon wafers and improve the luminescence efficiency: This part of the related research work has been supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, major Science and Technology Special Projects of Yunnan Province and key projects of Yunnan Science and Technology Department. The research group has published many SCI and EI papers in Power Technology, Fuel Cell, Materials Guide and other journals, and has trained 8 master graduates. Graduate students in state-owned and private enterprises as technical director and technical backbone;

2. Preparation of nanoporous silicon and its application in heavy metal environmental remediation

Study on the adsorption of heavy metal ions in industrial wastewater by using nanoporous silicon materials; The related research work in this part was supported by two National Natural Science Foundation of China and one Open Fund of State Key Laboratory of Clean Utilization of Complex Non-ferrous Metal Resources jointly built by Province and Ministry. The research group has published many SCI papers in journals such as JHM, Coatings, MP, Waste Management, etc. It has cultivated 8 graduate students, who are working as technical backbone in state-owned and private enterprises.

3. Silicon based wiring and interconnect film materials for ULSI in information industry

The interconnecting materials and devices of semiconductor very large scale integrated circuits were studied by PVD, CVD, SPuttering and other film fabrication techniques. This part of the research has been supported by the Fund for Returned Scholars of The Ministry of Education, the Natural Science Foundation of Yunnan Science and Technology Department, and the Double First-class major projects of Yunnan University. The research group has published a number of SCI and EI papers in ACS, ASS, SPT, JMST and other journals, and has trained 8 graduate students, who serve as technical backbone and research and development force in the field of semiconductor information materials.
